What is descriptive text?


• Definition of Descriptive text:

Descriptive text is text that explains or describes people, animals or objects in of their shape, characteristics, number and etc.


• Structure of Descriptive text:

Identifications - Description 1 - Description 2 - Conclusion (opsional)


• Language Features of Descriptive text: 

Subject + Verb + Object + Manner + Place + Text


  Contoh: 

   Education in Indonesia is provides free of charge in this period.


• OSASCOMP: Adjective Word Order.

Opinion - Clever, bad, difficult, nice.

Size - Tall, short, long, little.

Age - Young, old, teenager.

Shape - White, black, maroon, cyan.

Origin - Korean, Chinese, Indonesian.

Material - Ceramics, stone, paper.

Purpose - Sleeping, talking, dancing.


• Before adjective + noun, have a determiner:

a, an, the, my, your, her, this, these, some.


• Social function of Descriptive text: 

Iklan, pelaku kriminal, mencari alat/membeli alat, bencana, kecelakaan
